VPS, VDS and Minecraft hosting The cloud is Physical

Rackyard is a new host for VPS, VDS, Minecraft and Discord bots. Every plan says what it runs on.

Position

Know the machine

Virtual servers are usually sold as a count: so many cores, so much memory, and nothing about what sits underneath. Four vCPUs can mean very different things from one host to the next.

Rackyard lists the processor, the memory and the storage behind every plan, so you can judge the performance you are paying for before you pay for it.

Specifications you can check, not adjectives.

Anatomy

What you are buying

A server is compute, memory, storage, network and power. Here is what each part means for the plan you choose.

  1. Chassis

    The host

Every virtual server runs on a physical machine. Its processor sets the ceiling for every plan on it, which is why each plan names the one it runs on.

  2. Storage

    The drives

Storage decides how quickly a database answers and a server boots. Every plan states how much it includes, so you can size it before you order.

  3. Thermal

    The cooling

A processor that runs hot slows itself down. Sustained performance depends on the machine around the chip as much as on the chip.

  4. Compute

    The cores

On a VPS, cores are shared and scheduled between customers. On a VDS, they are reserved for you. Every plan says which it is.

    SHARED OR DEDICATED

  5. Power

    The building

Power, cooling and connectivity come from the data centre. We run in India, Germany and the USA, so you can keep your server close to your users.

Nothing left out

Cores, memory and storage. Every plan lists all of them, and a VPS or VDS says whether its cores are shared or yours alone.

One becomes many

Start with one virtual server. Move to dedicated cores when the workload needs them, and to dedicated hardware when we offer it, without changing provider.

What we commit to

We are a new company, so we will not quote customer counts or awards. These are the standards we want to be judged by.
  1. Specifications you can check

Every plan states its processor model, memory and storage, not just a core count. What the page lists is what your server gets.

  2. Shared or dedicated, labelled

VPS plans share processor time; VDS plans reserve cores for you. Each plan says which, so the price difference is easy to understand.

  3. Terms in plain language

Prices, billing cycles, refunds and what happens when you cancel are written down before you pay, in words a person can read.

  4. Incidents reported honestly

When something breaks, we say so: what happened, who was affected and what we changed so it does not happen again.

Common questions

The rest are on the FAQ page.
Can I order a server today?

Yes. Plans marked available can be ordered from the pricing page.

Plans and pricing

What is the difference between a VPS and a VDS?

Both are virtual machines with root access. On a VPS, processor time is shared between customers on the same host, which keeps the price down and suits workloads that are busy in bursts. On a VDS, cores are reserved for you, so CPU performance stays consistent whatever other customers are doing.

VPS vs VDS, in detail

Do you offer an SLA?

Yes. The SLA sets a monthly availability target of 99.9 percent. For every 2 hours of downtime in a month, we add one free day to the affected service, up to 30 days a month.

Service Level Agreement

Can I get a refund?

Yes. Your first service can be cancelled for a full refund within 3 days of paying for it. Within 15 days of any payment, we give a calculated refund for the unused days if a fault on our side stops the service working and we cannot fix it. After that, downtime is compensated with free days on the service under the SLA. The Refund Policy has the details and exceptions.
